# Fix common Cosmesoft app issues

This article helps you diagnose and fix the most common problems installing or using Cosmesoft One as an app.

If you're not sure how installing works, start with [About Cosmesoft One](https://support.cosmesoft.app/en/article/about-cosmesoft-one). For step-by-step setup, see [How to install the Cosmesoft app](https://support.cosmesoft.app/en/article/how-to-install-the-cosmesoft-app).

> **Browser support:** Cosmesoft One is only fully supported on Google Chrome across desktop, Android, iPhone and iPad. Use Chrome when installing and troubleshooting the app. Some Apple platform notification behavior may still depend on iOS/iPadOS limitations.

## **Problem 1 – "I can't see the install option"**

### How you recognise it

No install icon in the Chrome address bar, or no **Add to Home Screen** / **Install app** in your browser's menu.

### **Most likely causes**

- Not using the fully supported browser, Google Chrome.
- Browser isn't fully up to date.
- Cosmesoft One is already installed.
- Page hasn't fully loaded.

### **How to fix it**

1. Confirm you're using **Chrome**. Cosmesoft One is only fully supported in Chrome.
2. Update your browser, then reload the page.
3. Check if it's already installed — Applications folder/Launchpad (macOS), Start menu (Windows), home screen (iOS), app drawer (Android), or `chrome://apps`.
4. On desktop, try the menu route: **three-dot menu (⋮) → Cast, save, and share → Install page as app…**
5. Make sure you're on the correct Cosmesoft address and the page has finished loading.

### How to confirm it's fixed

You see the install prompt, complete installation, and can launch Cosmesoft One from your dock, taskbar, Start menu, home screen, or app drawer.

## **Problem 2 – "I installed the app but it's not on my home screen"**

### **How you recognise it**

You went through the install steps but can't find the app afterwards, or aren't sure installation completed.

### **Most likely causes**

- Installation didn't fully complete (missed a confirmation step).
- Icon was added somewhere other than where you're looking.
- You closed the browser before the install prompt finished.

### **How to fix it**

1. Check the right location for your device — Applications folder/Launchpad (macOS), Start menu (Windows), other home screen pages and App Library (iOS), app drawer as well as home screen (Android).
2. Repeat the install steps from [**How to install the Cosmesoft app**](https://support.cosmesoft.app/en/article/how-to-install-the-cosmesoft-app), making sure to complete the final **Install**/**Add** confirmation.
3. Check if it installed under a different name if you changed it during install.
4. Restart your device — occasionally a completed install won't appear until the launcher refreshes.

### **How to confirm it's fixed**

You can find and launch Cosmesoft One from your dock, taskbar, Start menu, home screen, or app drawer, and it opens without an address bar.

## **Problem 3 – "I'm not receiving push notifications"**

### **How you recognise it**

You installed Cosmesoft One but don't receive alerts for events like new bookings.

### **Most likely causes**

- **On iPhone/iPad, Chrome does not support notifications** — Chrome is still the fully supported browser for Cosmesoft One, but Chrome-installed apps cannot receive push notifications on Apple's platform. There is no solution for this at this time.
- Your iPhone/iPad is running **iOS/iPadOS earlier than 16.4** — notifications aren't available below this version regardless of install method. Check via **Settings → General → About → Software Version**.
- You dismissed the in-app notification permission prompt.
- Notifications are blocked at the device/OS level.
- You're using the browser tab instead of the installed app.

### **How to fix it**

1. If your iOS version is below 16.4, update it if possible; notifications aren't supported below this version.
2. Open the installed app and allow notifications if prompted.
3. Check device notification settings (see **Enable push notifications** for exact steps per platform).
4. Make sure you're launching the installed app, not a browser tab.

### **How to confirm it's fixed**

Trigger a test event and confirm the notification arrives on your device while the app isn't in the foreground.

## **Note – "A link opened in a new browser window instead of staying in the app"**

### **How you recognise it**

You're using the installed Cosmesoft One app, click a link, and instead of staying in the app's window, it opens a separate Chrome or Safari window/tab.

### **This is expected behavior, not a fault**

Links that go **outside the Cosmesoft One app** — such as a payment provider page, an external support link, or a site not part of the installed app — will always open in your regular browser instead of the app's own window. This is standard behavior for installed apps on every platform, and isn't something to report as an issue.

Links that stay **within Cosmesoft One** should normally open inside the app's own window. If you're on desktop and notice this isn't happening, it may simply be down to your Chrome version — this behavior was standardised in Chrome 139 (August 2025). Updating Chrome to the latest version should resolve it.

### **How to tell the difference**

- **Expected:** the new window has a full address bar and looks like a normal browser tab — this is Cosmesoft One correctly handing off to an external site.
- **Worth checking:** a link that should stay inside Cosmesoft (e.g. navigating between your own booking, client, or settings pages) consistently opens a full browser tab instead of staying in the app — in this case, update Chrome and try again.

## **Still not working?**
